Sure cell phones and other electronic gadgets make life more interesting, but the batteries that are used in these devices aren’t a boon to our environment.

Thin Battery recently announced that they have an eco-friendly battery that will break down and uses carbon-zinc. Thin Battery acquired the patented technology from Eveready battery in 2003 and has been developing it ever since.

“Growing global concerns surrounding product safety, security and protecting the environment, as well as the need for increased automation and connectivity, have propelled the development of printed electronics technology. In making our batteries smaller, thinner, green and more cost-effective, our goal is to stimulate and enable innovative product development by supplying the highest quality, most affordable and scalable printed power source and integration solutions in the marketplace today.” said Gary R. Johnson, chief executive officer of Thin Battery Technologies.

These thinner and more flexible batteries meet the European Union’s RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives for eco-friendly manufacturing and disposability.
